Dr. Rafaela Andrade is the Co-founder and CEO of Myomar Molecular, a Canadian biotechnology company at the forefront of muscle health monitoring. Rafaela’s scientific journey began at Dalhousie University, where she earned her PhD in the laboratory of Dr. Paola Marignani, focusing on the intersection of cancer and metabolism. Her transition from the bench to industry accelerated during her postdoctoral studies at the Creative Destruction Lab (CDL), where she was recognized nationally as a leading female biotech founder. It was there that she pioneered the technology behind Myomar, which utilizes molecular biomarkers to monitor and predict muscle health. In recognition of her impact on the industry, she was named the 2023 Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year.

Dr. Aida Minguez Menendez est conseillère en communication et transfert de connaissances au sein du regroupement de recherche Oplait, à la faculté de médecine vétérinaire de l'Université de Montréal. Dr. David Cheishvili is Chief Innovation Officer at epiMedTech Global, affiliated with the Department of Oncology at McGill University in Montreal, and also holds leadership roles at NanoWellness Inc. and MTL Epitherapeutics Inc. Dr. David Cheishvili holds a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from The Hebrew University. He is a molecular biologist and epigenetics researcher with over 25 years of experience spanning academia, clinical trials, and biotech innovation. He has co-invented patents in cancer detection and epigenetic age testing, led clinical trials and research in epigenetics, and published extensively on DNA methylation and diagnostics.

Dr. Amélie Fradet-Turcotte is a Professor at Université Laval and a researcher at the CHU de Québec–Université Laval Research Centre. Her research explores how our cells maintain the integrity of their genome, especially in the context of viral infections like HPV. Using a powerful mix of biochemistry and molecular biology, her lab uncovers how viruses hijack our DNA repair machinery. Dr. Paola Marignani is a Full Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at Dalhousie University and the founder of Canadian Women in STEM, a national initiative dedicated to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in Canada’s STEM community. In this interview, hosted by Sabrina Grégoire and Laura Godfrey, Dr. Marignani discusses her journey into cancer epigenetics research and emphasizes that a fulfilling career doesn’t have to follow a traditional path—you just need to find one that brings you joy.
